My First

By November 11, 20142 Comments3 min read

It is past 2am and there is seems to be no hope of me getting the chance to sleep anytime soon. Feels so frustrating but at the same time served me right since it got me thinking about writing my first post.

Have been pondering for a while on what should be my first post and then I recalled a statement a pal made at one time when we were chatting. She said that the first time of everything is never the very best. I know you may be having a monologue right now on how true that statement is, something I too did the first time I heard it. I didn’t comment on it but I got the pleasure to resolve it at leisure.

The more I thought about it the more a piece of truth about it dawned on me. I have come to learn that we are always evolving and that life is a learning process. We never get to the tip of perfection because the world is a dynamic place. Once we reflect on our past and the first things we did something that we have eventually become experts in over a span of time, then we get to see that we never knew as much as we thought. Maybe it is for the same reason that the famous Katy Perry says ” … I wish I knew then what I know now…”  in her popular song; Wide Awake. The fact that we can manage run and jump all by ourselves makes us never want to crawl again. Being better makes us see as if we did an awful job the first time.

However, I strongly believe it all depends on our perspective about ‘our first’. If we view it as something that we failed in, then we prone to frustration but if we tend to look at it as a foundation of being better people, then there is a chance of us growing stronger in the game of life.Never let the fear of failing in your first overwhelm you and hinder you from doing something that may come to shape your future. Eventually it all comes to be a past which is worth neither our worry nor our lifetime energy. Our focus in life should be on our present and more of it on our future. Our past will only define us if we decide to over dwell on it.

There is something about our first time of almost everything we do, we rarely forget it. But here is my advice may it be your first day at school or work, relationship, occupation or anything else that we all engage in that is hindering you from moving on, please just let it go.

I have just endeavored in my first. This is my first post in my new and first blog ever. I bet I will always remember this one. Be gentle on this new kid.
