Today is my birthday — and the very first wish came in at 3:00 AM from my youngest daughter (1 year and 2 months old).

No, she didn’t actually say the words… but she woke up, did a little dance in her bed, giggled, and said “mama.” And if you know her, you know she usually reserves “mama” for when she really needs something — otherwise, it’s “Dada” all day! 😄

In that sweet, sleepy moment, I showered her with kisses and felt an overwhelming wave of love and purpose.

Being a mother has been the most beautiful role I’ve ever had. It’s changed my heart, deepened my perspective, and prepared me in unexpected ways for the purpose and roles God has set me apart for in this world.

You truly can’t be a mother and remain the same. And I’ve found that the same is true for entrepreneurship.

Since April, when I launched my journal, life has been a whirlwind. In May, I took over a restaurant that was on its way down — and gave it new life. Shortly after, I officially began running the Flormar Kenya.

It’s been a season of stretching, learning, and growing. But looking back, motherhood has been the best training ground for everything I’m doing now. Here’s how:

  1. Decide fast: Moms don’t have the luxury of overthinking. I use a reversibility framework: Type 1 = irreversible, Type 2 = reversible. Know the difference.
  2. Delegate wisely: Motherhood teaches you to trust others, give clear instructions, and focus on what only you can do. Business is the same.
  3. Perfection is a myth: There’s no perfect way to parent or to build. Beauty exists in the mess.
  4. Routines win: Predictability creates peace. The success of your business lies in the small, daily habits.
  5. Appreciate everything: I don’t take calls when I’m with my kids. I’ve learned to be present. That same mindfulness applies to business — cherish the highs and lows.
  6. Protect your energy: Not everyone deserves access to it. Save your highest vibration for what really matters.
  7. You are not a machine: You’re a soul. One solo trip a year (thank you, husband!) has been my gift to myself. Rest is productive.
  8. You won’t vibe with everyone: Especially during the building phase — in both motherhood and business. Use that time to reconnect with what matters.
  9. Move like it’s already done: There’s no manual for parenting. You follow your gut. In business, it’s the same. Trust yourself and move boldly.

Today I feel nothing but gratitude — for the journey, for the lessons, and for the privilege of showing up both as a mother and a builder.

To all the working moms, entrepreneurs, and purpose-driven souls: keep going. You’re doing better than you think.
